Success Stories

“An international halogenated polymer manufacturer is contemplating the commercialization of a new polymer chemistry, initially targeting the US marketplace. The client contracts Polypro to assess the market potential, and create a Business Development plan for the aforementioned polymer. As part of its marketing assessment, Polypro meets with the three largest consumers of the halogenated polymer in order to accurately obtain the voice of customer. During this exercise, it is discovered that these customers will have low receptivity to an additional supplier, and that EPA regulations have forced obsolescence of the halogenated chemistry involved in the production of the engineered polymer. Although not the lucrative information the client had hoped for, this veritable information prevents the international client from launching the halogenated polymer. The client claims to have saved “nearly millions” in pure investment capital alone, in addition to the opportunity costs.”

“An Elastomer Compounding Corporation headquartered in Texas contracts Polypro to establish a Polymer Materials Testing Laboratory in order to characterize their rubber compounds. Polypro interfaces with the target market and identifies the physical and mechanical tests having the greatest value to the client’s customer base. Polypro’s extensive experience with polymeric materials characterization enables the client to design an internal laboratory for both Quality Assurance and Research and Development purposes. Not only did Polypro drastically enhance their internal testing capability, but Polypro negotiated with the equipment suppliers to save the client over $17,500. Moreover, the busy client did not need to place additional strain on their human capital by allocating their personnel toward this task.”

“A Fortune-500 Chemical Company and manufacturer of polyurethane resins asks James Downing Jr. to lobby on their behalf at the Green Building Initiative regarding the VOC (volatile organic content) levels of consumer-based polyurethane products. At first a bit daunting considering this subject is entirely unfamiliar, he becomes a veritable subject expert in minimal time. As a result of this project, James was integrally involved in the creation of the Green Building Initiative (GBI) Standard. Because of his knowledge in this space, he is asked to the Board of Directors for the Green Building Initiative. An alternative to to the more ubiquitous USGBC LEED standard is thus created. The result was a lower VOC level for polyurethane products, which benefits both consumers and the environment. Secondly, the marketplace is afforded another option regarding environmental programs. Third, the client secured their industry position as one of the environmentally-conscious suppliers of polyurethane polymer, which has paid great dividends for the client.”
